Talbot : Tagora

Model Introduction

The Talbot Tagora, unveiled in 1980, was a large executive saloon developed under Chrysler Europe but launched by Peugeot after their takeover. Designed to compete with cars like the Ford Granada and Opel Rekord, it offered generous interior space, sharp handling, and, in top SX trim, a 2.7-litre PRV V6 with fuel injection producing 165 bhp — at the time, the most powerful French production saloon. Despite its strengths, the Tagora struggled in the marketplace due to a shifting brand identity and limited marketing, leading to low production numbers. Today it’s remembered as a rare and intriguing blend of French engineering and leftover Chrysler ambition.
