Talbot : Avenger
Model Introduction
The Talbot Avenger, introduced in 1970 as the Hillman Avenger and later badged under Chrysler and Talbot, was Rootes Group’s answer to the Ford Escort and Vauxhall Viva. Styled with a clean, transatlantic influence, it offered a range of lively engines and was praised for its light, precise handling. Available in saloon and estate forms, it also spawned sporting versions like the Avenger Tiger, which found success in club-level motorsport. Produced until 1981, it was a dependable, well-balanced car in its day, and remains appreciated by enthusiasts for its simple mechanics, rear-wheel-drive layout, and understated charm..
