Ford : Capri (Mk3)

Model Introduction

As the 1980s progressed, the Capri Mk3 became the last surviving rear-wheel-drive affordable coupe in a market increasingly dominated by front-wheel-drive hatchbacks. Yet it held its own, particularly in the UK, where it remained a strong seller and a cultural touchstone long after being withdrawn from other markets. The final edition 280 “Brooklands” in 1986 with its unique green paint, Recaro leather interior, and 15-inch seven-spoke alloys gave the Capri a dignified send-off. In total, over 1.9 million Capris were sold across all generations, and the Mk3 represents the model at its most mature and refined. Equal parts GT, cult icon, and working-class dream car, it remains one of the most recognisable and cherished Fords ever made.
