Vauxhall : Cavalier Mk1
Model Introduction
The Vauxhall Cavalier Mk1 debuted in 1975 as the British-built version of the Opel Ascona B, assembled at Luton and later Ellesmere Port. It brought sharp, modern styling and a driver-focused chassis to the mid-size market, with saloon and coupe versions offering more refinement than the ageing Viva. Aimed squarely at the Ford Cortina, it quickly earned a reputation for reliability and performance, with the sporty GLS and coupe models adding extra showroom appeal.
