The Vauxhall Astra Mk2, launched in 1984, featured smoother, more modern styling and shared its underpinnings with the Opel Kadett E, which boasted an exceptionally low aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.30 in certain models — remarkable for a family hatchback of the era.
