Triumph : Acclaim
Model Introduction
The Triumph Acclaim, launched in 1981, was the final car to wear the Triumph badge and the first product of the Honda–British Leyland partnership. Based on the Honda Ballade but built in the UK, it offered a level of reliability and refinement that was unusual for BL at the time, thanks to its Honda-sourced 1.3-litre engine and slick gearbox. Well equipped and economical, the Acclaim played a key role in modernising BL’s production standards and is now remembered as both a dependable small saloon and the closing chapter of the Triumph marque.
