Renault : Fuego

Model Introduction

The Renault Fuego, introduced in 1980, was a stylish coupé developed from the Renault 18 platform, aimed at combining French flair with everyday usability. Styled by Michel Jardin under Robert Opron, it stood out with its aerodynamic shape, wraparound rear window, and distinctive front-end treatment. Available with a wide range of engines, including turbocharged petrol and economical diesel options, the Fuego offered features such as remote central locking — a world first in a production car. While never a huge sales success in Europe, it found popularity in markets like South America and remains a distinctive product of Renault’s early-1980s design language.
