Renault : 8
Model Introduction
The Renault 8, launched in 1962, was a compact rear-engined saloon that carried forward Renault’s engineering tradition while introducing modern refinements. Styled with a distinctive boxy profile and quad headlamps in later versions, it offered a comfortable, well-appointed interior for its size. The R8 was notable for pioneering four-wheel disc brakes in a small family car, enhancing its handling credentials alongside the lively Gordini performance variants that became rally favourites. Built in France and under licence worldwide, it earned a reputation for durability and driving enjoyment during its production run into the early 1970s.
