Renault : 18
Model Introduction
The Renault 18, launched in 1978, was developed rapidly to replace both the Renault 12 and the larger Renault 16 in many markets. Styled under Gaston Juchet, it offered a conservative three-box design but with modern front-wheel-drive packaging and a comfortable, well-appointed interior. Available in saloon and estate forms, it was sold worldwide and built under licence in several countries, including Argentina and Australia. Turbocharged petrol and diesel variants broadened its appeal, and the model gained a reputation for long-distance comfort and durability before production ended in the mid-1980s.
