Renault : 12
Model Introduction
The Renault 12, launched in 1969, was designed as a robust, affordable family car that could be built easily in a wide range of markets. Styled for aerodynamic efficiency with a distinctive notchback saloon profile, it combined front-wheel drive with a roomy interior and excellent ride comfort. Its durability and simple engineering made it ideal for production under licence worldwide, including as the Dacia 1300, which remained in manufacture for decades. Available in saloon and estate forms, the R12 became a global success, with over 2.5 million built, and is still remembered for its reliability and adaptability.
