Porsche : 928
Model Introduction
The Porsche 928, unveiled in 1977, was conceived as a potential successor to the 911 and became the brand’s first production V8-powered model. Styled in-house under Wolfgang Möbius, it combined a distinctive, aerodynamic body with innovative features such as integrated polyurethane bumpers and a transaxle layout for balanced handling. Its 4.5-litre V8 grew in size and power over time, with later S, S4, GT, and GTS variants offering grand touring performance to rival the best from Europe and America. Awarded the 1978 European Car of the Year — the only sports car ever to win — the 928 earned a reputation for refinement, high-speed stability, and technical sophistication.
