Porsche : 914

Model Introduction

The Porsche 914, introduced in 1969, was a mid-engined sports car jointly developed by Porsche and Volkswagen, with clean, angular styling by Gugelot Design GmbH. Available with flat-four engines in 1.7, 1.8, and 2.0-litre forms (badged as VW-Porsche in some markets) and a range-topping 2.0-litre flat-six in the 914/6, it offered excellent handling balance and an innovative targa roof panel. Initially divisive for its unconventional looks and badge-sharing origins, the 914 has since gained appreciation for its lightweight agility, motorsport pedigree, and status as Porsche’s first mid-engined production car.
