Peugeot : 504
Model Introduction
The Peugeot 504, introduced in 1968, was styled by Pininfarina with elegant proportions, a distinctive concave grille, and rear light clusters closely related to those on the Ferrari 365 GT 2+2. Crowned European Car of the Year in 1969, it was available in saloon, estate, coupé, and cabriolet forms, with the latter two drawing even more heavily on Ferrari design cues thanks to Pininfarina’s influence. Offered with petrol and diesel engines, and fuel injection on some models, the 504 was renowned for its ride comfort, rugged durability, and corrosion resistance, excelling in harsh climates and winning rallies across Africa. Its long production life, continuing in some markets into the 2000s, cemented its status as one of Peugeot’s most enduring designs.
