Peugeot : 405

Model Introduction

The Peugeot 405, launched in 1987, was styled by Pininfarina with a sleek, aerodynamic profile that helped it win the 1988 European Car of the Year award. Offered in saloon and estate forms, it combined sharp handling with Peugeot’s trademark ride comfort, and came with a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines. Performance highlights included the lively Mi16 and four-wheel-drive Mi16x4, while motorsport versions of the 405 scored victories in the Paris-Dakar Rally and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Its blend of style, practicality, and driver appeal made it one of Peugeot’s most acclaimed modern classics.
