Model Introduction

The Peugeot 404, launched in 1960, was styled by Pininfarina with crisp, elegant lines that gave it a timeless, upmarket presence. Built in saloon, estate, coupé, and cabriolet forms, it was powered by a range of robust petrol and diesel engines, with fuel injection available on some models from as early as 1962. Renowned for its durability and comfort, the 404 achieved rally success across Africa and South America, and its strong, rust-resistant construction kept it in production in various countries well into the 1980s, long after it had been replaced in Europe.
