Model Introduction
The Peugeot 205, introduced in 1983, was a landmark small car that combined chic Pininfarina-influenced styling with superb handling and ride comfort. Offered in a wide range of trims, it became legendary in GTI form, available with 1.6- and 1.9-litre engines that set new standards for hot hatch performance. The 205 also achieved huge motorsport success, with the mid-engined 205 Turbo 16 dominating Group B rallying and winning two World Rally Championships. Its blend of style, practicality, and driving pleasure made it one of Peugeot’s most celebrated models and a defining car of the 1980s.

Peugeot's 1.9-litre version of the 205GTI will be shown at the Motor Show in October and go on sale around New Year. Peugeot sources say the engine will be limited to 130bhp because they feel the little car would just be too powerful with more horses to call on.
