Mazda : RX7 (FB)
Model Introduction
The Mazda RX-7 FB, introduced in 1978 as the first generation of Mazda’s iconic rotary sports car, combined sleek, lightweight styling with the smooth, high-revving 12A and later 13B Wankel engines. Designed by Matasaburo Maeda, it offered near-perfect weight distribution, sharp handling, and impressive performance for its size, earning widespread praise from motoring journalists and winning Motor Trend’s 1980 Import Car of the Year. With its pop-up headlights, wraparound glass, and distinctive rotary power delivery, the FB established the RX-7 as a serious rival to European sports cars.
