Lancia : Montecarlo
Model Introduction
The Lancia Montecarlo, launched in 1975, was a mid-engined sports car designed by Pininfarina’s Paolo Martin and built on a development of the Fiat X1/9 concept. Powered by a 2.0-litre twin-cam engine and offered in both coupé and targa-roof Spider forms, it combined sharp styling with balanced handling and a surprisingly spacious cabin. Withdrawn from production in 1978 due to concerns over braking performance, it returned in revised form in 1980 with improved brakes, subtle styling changes, and a more refined interior, giving the Montecarlo a second lease of life before final production ended in 1981.
