Jaguar : E-Type
Model Introduction
Few cars define an era like the Jaguar E-Type. Launched in 1961 and styled by Malcolm Sayer, it stunned the world with its long, low bonnet, faired-in headlamps, and near-150mph top speed for half the price of an Aston or Ferrari. Beneath that sculpted body sat race-proven engineering, including independent suspension all-round and disc brakes on every wheel. Enzo Ferrari reportedly called it the most beautiful car ever made, and even today it remains an icon of British design. The E-Type evolved through three series, with early 3.8 and 4.2-litre straight-six models prized for their purity, and later Series 3 V12s offering effortless torque and a more relaxed grand touring character.
