Ford : Cortina (Mk2)
Model Introduction
The Ford Cortina Mk2, introduced in 1966, was a clean-sheet redesign that refined the original's formula with sharper styling, better space efficiency, and improved comfort. Still designed and built by Ford of Britain, the Mk2 featured more squared-off lines, a wider track, and a roomier cabin, while retaining the successful rear-wheel-drive layout. The range of Kent engines continued, from 1.2- to 1.6-litre units, joined by the larger 1.6-litre Crossflow in later models. It was available in saloon and estate forms, and came in a variety of trims—Base, Deluxe, Super, GT, and the plush 1600E - which allowed buyers to tailor the Cortina to anything from modest family use to near-executive luxury.
