Ford : Capri (Mk2)
Model Introduction
The Ford Capri Mk2 was launched in 1974 as a more refined and practical evolution of the hugely successful Mk1. While the styling retained the long bonnet and fastback silhouette, it was softened with larger glass areas and a hatchback rear bringing a welcome boost in everyday usability. Designed under Uwe Bahnsen at Ford of Europe, the Mk2 was aimed at broadening the Capri’s appeal beyond the boy-racer crowd, offering improved cabin space, better visibility, and a more comfortable driving position. Engine choices ranged from the familiar 1.3-litre Kent unit to the 3.0-litre Essex V6, covering everything from modest commuters to true GT bruisers.
