Ford : Anglia (105E)
Model Introduction
The Ford Anglia 105E, launched in 1959, marked a major step forward for Ford of Britain with its bold styling and modern engineering. Styled under the direction of Elwood Engel who would later go on to shape the Lincoln Continental, the Anglia featured American-inspired lines with its distinctive reverse-rake rear window, modest tailfins, and contrasting colour schemes. Under the skin, it introduced a new 997cc overhead-valve "Kent" engine and a four-speed synchromesh gearbox, both of which would go on to power generations of Fords well into the 1980s. It was light, economical, and surprisingly lively for its size, and its keen pricing made it a popular choice with young families and first-time buyers across the UK.
