Fiat : Dino

Model Introduction

The Fiat Dino was born from a unique partnership between Fiat and Ferrari, created to homologate Ferrari’s 2.0-litre V6 engine for Formula 2 racing. Launched in 1966, the Dino was offered as both a coupé designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone and a convertible penned by Pininfarina, both built on Fiat mechanicals but with real Ferrari DNA under the bonnet. The early 2.0-litre V6 was a high-revving, all-alloy, quad-cam unit originally developed by Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, producing 160 bhp and giving the Dino true grand touring performance. In 1969, the engine was enlarged to 2.4 litres, paired with a five-speed gearbox and independent rear suspension, greatly improving refinement and handling.
