BMW claim to have made 41 changes on their Five Series cars including the face-lifted nose and improved engines for the 525/528. The bonnet was lowered slightly while the grille's kidney was raised, it juts up in a rectangular bulge now, as on the Three and Six series cars. The rear lights have been enlarged considerably and sport ribbed glasses like those Mercedes introduced three years ago. The tank cap, which was located between the number plate and the rear light is now incorporated in the right rear wing to follow the latest impact safety regulations
